Characteristics and Style of the Aligoté Grape

Although Burgundy is globally renowned for Chardonnay, the native Aligoté grape has a loyal following of its own. Wines from this appellation are characterized by a pale color, expressive, vibrant acidity, and are typically aged in stainless steel tanks (without oak influence) to maintain absolute purity. The glass is dominated by notes of green apples, citrus fruits (especially lemons and grapefruits), white flowers, and stony minerality. It is a straightforward, energetic wine with a very clean profile.
