In the Shadow of a Famous Neighbor

The vineyards of the Castillon appellation are a direct extension of the Saint-Émilion limestone plateau. Because the soil and climate are almost identical, the same Merlot and Cabernet Franc grapes dominate here. Castillon red wine is characterized by a round texture, soft tannins, and expressive aromas of plums, dark cherries, and subtle earthiness. In recent years, many famous Bordeaux winemakers have invested in this zone, turning it into a true hub of innovation and quality.

What to Serve with This Bordeaux Wine?

This is a wine that reflects classic, elegant French gastronomy. It pairs beautifully with grilled poultry, roast pork with spices, tender beef, and semi-hard cheeses. It is an incredibly food-friendly wine for meat, and thanks to its good structure and recognized Bordeaux name, it always makes a smart and delightful wine gift for enthusiasts.

Why did the appellation change its name to Castillon - Côtes de Bordeaux?
In 2009, several Right Bank appellations (including Castillon, Blaye, Cadillac, and Francs) united under the common Côtes de Bordeaux umbrella to increase the region's visibility and simplify label recognition for consumers, while retaining the right to append their historic village names.

How long can these wines be cellared?
While they are very pleasant to drink young (after 2–3 years), Castillon wines possess good structure and can successfully evolve in the cellar for 4 to 8 years, with wines from top estates aging up to 10 years.

At what temperature is it best served?
It is recommended to serve it at around 16–18 °C. A short decanting (about 30–45 mins) is highly beneficial for younger wines to bring out their velvety berry aromas.
