This historic vineyard is situated on an east-southeast facing slope, close to the Vosges forests. Its greatest asset is the soil, which is rich in marine shell limestone (Muschelkalk). Due to the cooler microclimate, grapes ripen very slowly here, making it one of the last vineyards to be harvested in Alsace. This ensures the preservation of vibrant acidity even during the hottest summers. The Riesling, Pinot Gris, and Gewurztraminer grown here are characterized by incredible longevity, balanced elegance, and a distinct, slightly saline minerality that gives these wines extraordinary value.

Although its quality undoubtedly matches and often surpasses that of many Grand Cru vineyards, historically, this enclosed plot was not included in the official classification list. However, wine experts and collectors worldwide regard it as one of the finest and most prestigious sites in the entire Alsace region.
