What is This Appellation and Which Grapes are Used?

Coteaux Bourguignons (meaning "Hills of Burgundy") replaced the former Bourgogne Grand Ordinaire appellation. Its biggest advantage is flexibility. Winemakers are permitted to source grapes from the entire greater Burgundy region, including Beaujolais. You will find wines made from single varietals as well as innovative blends.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I chill Coteaux Bourguignons red wines?

Yes! Thanks to their low tannin content and vibrant fruitiness (especially when heavily featuring the Gamay grape), these red wines are deliciously refreshing when lightly chilled to 12–14 °C during the summer.

Are these wines meant for aging?

No, this appellation is designed for immediate consumption. You will capture the best qualities of Coteaux Bourguignons—its youthful energy and fresh berry aromas—by enjoying it within the first 1 to 3 years of bottling.
