What Makes the Garda DOC Region Special?

Lake Garda acts as a natural thermoregulator, creating a unique Mediterranean microclimate despite the region being at the foothills of the Alps. Mild winters and sunny summers allow the grapes to ripen evenly while retaining their natural acidity. The Garda DOC appellation covers a broad area across Lombardy and Veneto, giving winemakers the freedom to craft modern, internationally appreciated wines using various grape varieties.

The Variety of Garda DOC Wines

Food Pairing Suggestions

Thanks to their freshness, white Garda DOC wines pair perfectly with freshwater fish dishes, light salads, and soft cheeses. The red wines are highly versatile and go beautifully with pizza, pasta with tomato sauce, or light meat appetizers. Frequently Asked Questions

Are Garda DOC wines suitable for long aging?

The vast majority of Garda DOC wines (especially whites and rosés) are designed to be enjoyed young and fresh, within 1–3 years of the vintage. However, select premium red wines can age longer.

How does Garda DOC differ from Bardolino or Lugana?

Lugana and Bardolino are more specific, strictly defined appellations located within the same general area. Garda DOC is a broader appellation that permits a wider range of grape varieties, including international ones, resulting in a greater diversity of styles.

At what temperature should Garda wines be served?

We recommend chilling the white, rosé, and sparkling wines to 8–10 °C. The red wines are best enjoyed at a temperature of 15–17 °C.
