The High-Altitude Terroir of the Uco Valley

Located in the Mendoza region at the foothills of the Andes, La Consulta boasts extreme growing conditions. Vineyards here sit at approximately 1,000–1,100 meters above sea level. Hot, sunny days and very cool nights ensure slow grape ripening. As a result, the red wine from this region retains excellent natural acidity, firm yet silky tannins, and an outstanding concentration of aromas.

Beyond the Kingdom of Malbec

While Malbec is the undisputed calling card of La Consulta—scented with blackberries, plums, and violets—the region is also perfectly suited for Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah grapes. Wines made from these varieties often develop notes of dark chocolate, licorice, and sweet spices, which are further enhanced by oak barrel aging.

What food pairs best with La Consulta wines?
Argentine wines are intrinsically linked to meat culture. It is the perfect wine for meat, especially grilled beef steaks (Asado), lamb, and game dishes. The wine also pairs wonderfully with aged hard cheeses.

Are these wines suitable for cellaring?
Yes, high-quality La Consulta wines have excellent aging potential. When aged in oak barrels, they can successfully evolve in the bottle for 5 to 10 years or even longer.

What is the ideal serving temperature?
Rich red wines are best served slightly cooler than standard room temperature—at around 16–18 °C. This helps balance the alcohol and reveals the wine's floral and fruity aromas.
