The Pride of the Lodi Region – Old Vines

Lodi is characterized by a unique climate where hot summer days are moderated by cooling breezes coming from the San Francisco Bay. However, the region's greatest treasure is its Old Vines. Some Zinfandel vines in this region are over 100 years old. These ancient plants produce very low yields, but the resulting berries are incredibly concentrated. In the glass, sweet blackberries, plum jam, black pepper, vanilla, and cocoa dominate. The wines feature a full body, soft tannins, and often a slightly higher alcohol content.

Perfect Food Pairings

Rich and fruit-forward Lodi wines demand bold and intense food pairings:

Are only Zinfandel grapes grown in the Lodi region?
While Zinfandel is the region's calling card, Lodi is actually highly diverse. It successfully cultivates rich Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Syrah, and Mediterranean varieties like Albariño or Tempranillo are becoming increasingly popular.

Are Old Vine Zinfandel wines worth cellaring?
Most Lodi Zinfandel wines are crafted to be highly approachable and enjoyed immediately. It is best to drink them within the first 3 to 5 years while their natural, ripe berry fruitiness is at its peak.
