Production Features (Vin Doux Naturel)

Muscat de Lunel belongs to a special category of French fortified wines known as Vin Doux Naturel (naturally sweet wine). The fermentation of the grapes is halted by the addition of a neutral grape spirit. This process, known as mutage, preserves a large amount of the grapes' natural sugar and highlights the unique Muscat berry aromas, while maintaining an alcohol content of around 15%.

Frequently Asked Questions

At what temperature should Muscat de Lunel be served?

To fully express its best qualities and highlight its freshness, it is recommended to serve this wine well chilled—at a temperature of 8–10 °C (46–50 °F).

Can this wine be cellared for a long time?

While Muscat de Lunel is delicious when young and bursting with primary floral aromas, it can age beautifully in the bottle for 5 to 10 years, developing deeper caramel and beeswax hues. An opened bottle will also keep exceptionally well in the refrigerator for several weeks.
