Rully is located slightly further south, with soils very similar to those of the Côte de Beaune (limestone and clay). While Rully wines might present themselves as slightly lighter and more open in their youth, top-tier Rully Premier Cru wines easily rival those from more famous villages—offering significantly better value for money.
Basic Village level Rully wines are best enjoyed within their first 3 to 5 years. However, if you are looking for a wine to cellar or a sophisticated gift, seek out a Rully Premier Cru (1er Cru), which can evolve beautifully in the cellar for 5 to 8 years, or even longer.
