Unique White and Sparkling Wines of the Northern Rhône

Situated in the southernmost part of the Northern Rhône Valley, the Saint-Péray appellation stands out with its limestone and granite soils. The white wine produced here boasts not only a rich, silky texture but also great vitality. Interestingly, about a third of this appellation's production is traditional method sparkling wine (mousseux), which in the past was highly prized and favored in European royal courts.

Gastronomic Pairings with Saint-Péray

Thanks to the full body and soft acidity created by the blend of Marsanne and Roussanne grapes, this wine is a perfect, highly versatile food companion. It pairs beautifully with poultry in cream sauce, trout, roasted veal, and expressive Asian dishes. It is a bold and outstanding wine for fish and seafood, serving as a brilliant alternative to heavier white Burgundies.

Dažniausiai užduodami klausimai

Is red wine produced in the Saint-Péray region?
No, this is one of the few appellations in the Rhône Valley that specializes exclusively in the production of white wines (both still and sparkling).

How long can these wines be cellared?
While Saint-Péray wines are very enjoyable in their youth, high-quality bottles can successfully age in a cellar for 4 to 8 years. Over time, they trade some primary fruitiness for spectacular notes of toasted nuts, honey, and beeswax.

At what temperature is it best to taste them?
A still white Saint-Péray is best served chilled to 10–12 °C to allow its richness to open up. The sparkling wine from this appellation should be chilled a bit further—to around 8–10 °C.
