The primary difference lies in the vineyard location. The Classico zone consists of steep, volcanic hills where grape yields are naturally lower, resulting in higher quality and greater concentration. Regular Soave is typically grown on fertile flatlands and tends to be simpler in flavor.
The backbone of this wine is the Garganega grape, which must make up at least 70% of the blend. To add extra perfume or crisp acidity, winemakers may occasionally blend in small amounts of Trebbiano di Soave or Chardonnay.
