The oldest estate in Gigondas, renowned for its deep connection to the local terroir and long-standing winemaking tradition. This is a domaine where ‘Grenache’, ‘Syrah’, ‘Mourvèdre’, and ‘Cinsault’ are expressed with exceptional sensitivity to place. Here, Gigondas is revealed as winemaker Louis Barruol understands it — powerful yet aristocratic, refined, and nuanced.
On the nose, layers of black cherries, plums, blackberries, and blueberries emerge. These are complemented by wild Provençal herbs, black pepper, clove, a touch of smoke, and a distinctive graphite-like minerality.
On the palate, the wine is dense and expressive, yet precisely balanced. Grenache brings warmth and ripe fruit, Syrah adds spice and backbone, while Mourvèdre contributes structure and longevity. The tannins are silky and polished, while the moderate acidity provides tension and vitality. Flavors are driven by dark berries, herbs, spices, and a long, mineral finish with a subtle saline touch.
The vines grow on limestone, clay, and sandy soils rich in stones, which provide natural freshness and allow the grapes to ripen slowly while retaining concentration and balance.
Fermentation is carried out using native yeasts to fully express the character of the terroir. The wine is aged in a combination of used French oak barrels and concrete vats, preserving fruit purity, structural finesse, and natural elegance.
Serve at 16-18°C with roasted game, stewed meat dishes, or strong mature cheeses.
