Red dry
A mature Margaux from a 3ème Grand Cru Classé estate established in the 1855 Classification. The 2009 Bordeaux vintage was particularly favourable: warm and dry conditions allowed the grapes to reach high levels of ripeness while retaining sufficient freshness. This „Giscours“ is characterised by concentrated fruit, refined tannins and the classic aromatic complexity of Margaux.
The nose reveals notes of blackcurrants, blackberries and ripe plums, complemented by cedar, tobacco, leather, mocha and subtle spices. Deeper layers of graphite, forest floor and gentle smoky nuances emerge with air. The fruit remains pronounced, while bottle ageing has added further complexity and aromatic depth.
On the palate, the wine is rich without being heavy, with flavours of ripe black fruits, lively acidity and silky, well-integrated tannins. Blackcurrant and blackberry flavours are complemented by graphite, cedar, liquorice and subtle spice. The texture is smooth and seamless, while the finish is long, dry and precise, with lingering notes of black fruit, tobacco and minerality.
The 2009 Château Giscours blend consists of 53% ‘Cabernet Sauvignon’, 40% ‘Merlot’ and 7% ‘Cabernet Franc’. The vineyards are located within the Margaux appellation, where deep gravel soils provide good drainage and allow the vine roots to reach deeper layers. The grapes are hand-sorted and fermented in concrete and stainless-steel tanks, after which the wine is aged for around 12–15 months in French oak barrels, approximately 50% of which are new.
Serve at a temperature of 16–17 °C; pairs well with beef entrecôte, duck breast with wild mushrooms, and venison roast with juniper sauce.

Over the centuries, Giscours wines have earned the respect of critics and wine enthusiasts around the world for their harmony, concentration, and remarkable ability to age.
The vineyards of Château Giscours cover around 90 hectares and are planted with the classic red varieties of Margaux – ‘Cabernet Sauvignon’, ‘Merlot’, ‘Cabernet Franc’, and ‘Petit Verdot’. These varieties thrive here thanks to the region’s distinctive soils – fine gravel mixed with limestone. This terroir imparts precise structure and clear fruit expression to the wines, while maintaining a subtle mineral layer.
Winemaking at Château Giscours is a harmonious blend of traditional methods and modern control. The grapes are hand-harvested, with yields carefully limited to achieve intense, balanced fruit. Fermentation is carried out separately for each plot and variety, and the wines are aged in French oak barrels, a portion of which are new.
This process helps preserve the wines’ authentic character, where fruit intensity, earthy nuances, and refined texture come together in balance.
Château Giscours wines are highly regarded for their subtle elegance, clear fruit profile, and excellent structure. They are characterized by:
