Chateau Tronquoy-Lalande Saint Estephe 2014

Description

A Left Bank Bordeaux classic with a pronounced Merlot character, Château Tronquoy-Lalande Saint-Estèphe 2014 combines the structural backbone typical of the appellation with an unexpected roundness and earlier approachability.

The bouquet reveals blackcurrants, ripe plums, and cherries, complemented by notes of tobacco, cedar, subtle spice, and graphite.

On the palate, the wine is concentrated yet not austere. Well-integrated tannins, fresh acidity, and a core of dark fruit lead into a long, mineral-driven finish.

Unlike many estates in Saint-Estèphe, Merlot plays a dominant role, supported by Cabernet Sauvignon, Petit Verdot, and a small proportion of Cabernet Franc. The gravel and clay soils provide structure while preserving fruit richness and a supple texture.

The wine is aged for approximately 13 months in French oak barrels, around 30% of which are new.

Serving recommendations

It is recommended to serve at a temperature of 16–18 °C and pair it with beef steak, roasted lamb, or aged hard cheeses.
