Description

This is an exceptional Armagnac from the Bas-Armagnac region, crafted by the renowned Darroze family, whose name has been synonymous with high-end Armagnac craftsmanship for more than half a century. This edition is a single domaine distillate, produced at Domaine de la Boubee, located in Castelnau-d’Auzan, at the heart of the Bas-Armagnac appellation.

The grapes used for this Armagnac grow in “sables fauves” sandy soils, which lend the spirit a distinct minerality and elegance. Distilled in 2009 and aged for over a decade in oak casks, it achieves a perfect balance between fruitiness, oak maturity, and spicy finesse. Alcohol content – approximately 49.5%.

The nose reveals floral and honeyed notes delicately intertwined with hints of buttery brioche, fruit compote, and light pastry. It’s a bright, elegant, and inviting bouquet that combines youthful freshness with the first signs of maturity.

On the palate, the Armagnac is smooth, harmonious, and refined, with layers of dried fruits, honey, vanilla, and oak spice. The texture is silky and well-balanced, leading to a long, elegant finish with subtle touches of tobacco and gentle smoke.

Domaine de la Boubee 2009 is a youthful yet sophisticated Armagnac, beautifully expressing both the estate’s terroir and the Darroze family’s distillation precision. It unites bright fruitiness with the warmth of oak – a spirit made both for immediate enjoyment and collecting.

About brand

Darroze in the world of Armagnac stands for far more than quality — it represents a philosophy. It is a family story spanning more than a century and one of the most authentic expressions of the Gascony region.

The story began at the end of the 19th century, when the Darroze family started working with local winegrowers in Gascony. However, it was in the mid-20th century, thanks to Francis Darroze, that the house took on its present identity. He understood that the true value of Armagnac lies not in volume or blending for consistency, but in specific places, soils, vintages, and the human hand behind them.

Darroze Armagnac is never blended to achieve a uniform taste profile. Each bottle reflects a single estate, a single harvest, and a single story. It is a spirit that evolves, matures, and gains complexity with time. For this reason, Darroze is often compared to great wines rather than industrial spirits.

Most Darroze Armagnacs come from the Bas-Armagnac region, considered the most refined and elegant part of the appellation. The sandy and clay-rich soils give the distillates their signature softness, aromatic depth, and long aging potential. Distillation is carried out using the traditional continuous column still, followed by slow, natural maturation in French oak barrels.

Today, Darroze is regarded as one of the most important guardians of traditional Armagnac. Its creations are highly valued by collectors, sommeliers, and spirits enthusiasts around the world.

This is not a mass-produced spirit — it is a living piece of Gascony’s history in a glass.
