Description

Hailing from the prestigious Bas-Armagnac region, "Darroze Les Grands Assemblages 50 ans d’âge" is an exceptional assemblage aged for half a century in oak barrels, representing the "age of reason" for Armagnac. At this age, the spirit reaches the peak of its evolution and demonstrates an ideal balance, while extended maturation in barrels that have already exhausted their tannins allows it to maintain incredible freshness and avoid any wood aggressiveness.

The aroma is distinctly dominated by deep notes of chocolate, old leather, and noble roasted nuts, which are characteristic of such incredibly old eaux-de-vie. On the palate, this Armagnac is exceptionally refined, featuring a velvety texture and revealing a complex harmony of caramel, vanilla, and prunes, culminating in an elegant and endlessly long, spicy finish.

Serving recommendations: This is a top-tier meditation spirit, highly recommended to be savored strictly neat at room temperature from a tulip-shaped glass, allowing it to breathe for at least 20–30 minutes. It pairs beautifully with premium dark chocolate or simply stands alone as a magnificent, sophisticated highlight of an evening.

About brand

Darroze in the world of Armagnac stands for far more than quality — it represents a philosophy. It is a family story spanning more than a century and one of the most authentic expressions of the Gascony region.

The story began at the end of the 19th century, when the Darroze family started working with local winegrowers in Gascony. However, it was in the mid-20th century, thanks to Francis Darroze, that the house took on its present identity. He understood that the true value of Armagnac lies not in volume or blending for consistency, but in specific places, soils, vintages, and the human hand behind them.

Darroze Armagnac is never blended to achieve a uniform taste profile. Each bottle reflects a single estate, a single harvest, and a single story. It is a spirit that evolves, matures, and gains complexity with time. For this reason, Darroze is often compared to great wines rather than industrial spirits.

Most Darroze Armagnacs come from the Bas-Armagnac region, considered the most refined and elegant part of the appellation. The sandy and clay-rich soils give the distillates their signature softness, aromatic depth, and long aging potential. Distillation is carried out using the traditional continuous column still, followed by slow, natural maturation in French oak barrels.

Today, Darroze is regarded as one of the most important guardians of traditional Armagnac. Its creations are highly valued by collectors, sommeliers, and spirits enthusiasts around the world.

This is not a mass-produced spirit — it is a living piece of Gascony’s history in a glass.
