Description

The family's Armagnac history was initiated by Jean Darroze, a renowned and passionate chef of regional cuisine. Together with his son Francis, while nurturing the family's culinary journey, they began collecting Armagnacs from various estates across the region. Later, Francis's son, Marc, joined his father, and together they became the renowned "Treasure Hunters"—as dubbed by a French writer—tireless explorers of the secrets behind the production of this golden liquid. The company is currently led by Marc. The Darroze family's Armagnacs are recognized as some of the most highly regarded on the market.

This Armagnac was aged for 52 years in oak barrels and bottled in 1995.

It presents a brown color with light hues. The aroma reveals roasted and complex mature notes: dried fruits, cocoa, licorice, and leather. On the palate, it offers a soft attack, silky tannins, and a long finish.

Serving recommendations: Serve as a digestif, though it also pairs perfectly with tortillas, duck dishes, cheeses, and dark chocolate.

About brand

Darroze in the world of Armagnac stands for far more than quality — it represents a philosophy. It is a family story spanning more than a century and one of the most authentic expressions of the Gascony region.

The story began at the end of the 19th century, when the Darroze family started working with local winegrowers in Gascony. However, it was in the mid-20th century, thanks to Francis Darroze, that the house took on its present identity. He understood that the true value of Armagnac lies not in volume or blending for consistency, but in specific places, soils, vintages, and the human hand behind them.

Darroze Armagnac is never blended to achieve a uniform taste profile. Each bottle reflects a single estate, a single harvest, and a single story. It is a spirit that evolves, matures, and gains complexity with time. For this reason, Darroze is often compared to great wines rather than industrial spirits.

Most Darroze Armagnacs come from the Bas-Armagnac region, considered the most refined and elegant part of the appellation. The sandy and clay-rich soils give the distillates their signature softness, aromatic depth, and long aging potential. Distillation is carried out using the traditional continuous column still, followed by slow, natural maturation in French oak barrels.

Today, Darroze is regarded as one of the most important guardians of traditional Armagnac. Its creations are highly valued by collectors, sommeliers, and spirits enthusiasts around the world.

This is not a mass-produced spirit — it is a living piece of Gascony’s history in a glass.
