About brand

Maison Grosperrin is one of the most fascinating independent houses of the Cognac region, based in 19th-century cellars on the banks of the Charente river in the town of Saintes. The story began in 1992, when former distiller Jean Grosperrin became a cognac broker and started seeking out rare, forgotten casks in remote family estates. Seeing exceptional old cognacs disappear into mass-produced blends, in 1999 he began bottling them separately – stating the origin, age and story of each batch, a revolutionary practice at the time.

Since 2004 the house has been led by his son Guilhem Grosperrin, who has earned a reputation as one of the region's finest connoisseurs. Grosperrin acquires exceptional old eaux-de-vie from families and collectors and matures them without enhancement or embellishment – no sugar, caramel or other additives, often at natural cask strength. Every bottle is a vintage cognac of documented provenance, reflecting its terroir and its era. It was Grosperrin who also revived the historic Frédéric Mestreau brand, founded in 1808. These are cognacs for true connoisseurs who value authenticity over gloss.
