Sparkling dry
Gramona Corpinnat Gran Reserva Enoteca Brut Nature 2013 is one of the most ambitious and longest-aged sparkling wines not only from Gramona, but also from the entire Corpinnat category. This wine is created as a manifestation of time, terroir and patience - a wine that is more reminiscent of the great long-aged cuvées of the Champagne houses than a classic Spanish sparkling wine.
The wine is made from old vines of ‘Xarel lo’ and ‘Macabeo’ grapes grown in the ‘Font de Jui’ and ‘La Plana’ plots in the Penedès region. These calcareous, clayey and stony soils give the wine not only structure, but also an extremely pronounced minerality and longevity.
The aroma reveals an incredibly deep world of layers: dried apricots, baked apples, citrus peel, honey, roasted nuts, cocoa, brioche, toffee, incense, Mediterranean herbs and a light sea saltiness. The long aging gives nuances of oxidative maturity, but the wine retains surprising energy and freshness.
The wine stands out with its exceptionally fine bubbles and extremely creamy texture. Despite more than a decade of aging, the acidity remains lively, precise and very long. The aftertaste is dry, mineral, slightly salty.
The wine is aged in the bottle with yeast for about 140-160 months, depending on the release batch - one of the longest aging periods in the entire sparkling wine category in the world. The aging takes place using natural cork, and remuage and dégorgement are done by hand. Dosage is not used ("Brut Nature"), so all the attention is paid to terroir, texture and complexity of maturity.
Serve at 10-12°C as an aperitif, with oysters and seafood, even with foie gras, aged cheeses, poultry, truffles or even long-aged Iberian hams.
The 2013 Enoteca Brut Nature was produced with 65% Xarel.lo and 35% Macabeo from a wet year with higher yields. They compare 2013 with 2009 and 2019, years with lots of balance, not too concentrated, not too diluted, great vintages with freshness, like in Priorat. The wine was disgorged one year ago, which always contributes to the elegance, subtleness and nuance. This refermented in a bottle closed with a natural cork, then it matured in those bottles with the lees for 144 months. It's a very complete vintage. The wine is released with some time after the disgorgement, a nice detail and to me a plus. The wine is still fresh and has room for development. 2,000 bottles produced. It was disgorged in February 2025.
Gramona is one of the most prestigious Spanish sparkling wine producers, with over a century of viticultural tradition in the Penedès region of Catalonia. The family winery has become famous for its commitment to quality, ecology and the philosophy of long-aged wines.
Organic vineyards and biodynamic philosophy
Gramona vineyards are cultivated organically and biodynamically, respecting the principles of nature. The family's approach to viticulture is based on a belief in the cycles of the moon and the influence of the universe on the soil and vines.
History and tradition: from 1881 to today
In 1945, Bartomeu and Josep Lluís Gramona began a new era in winemaking - they were the first to establish the concept of long-aged sparkling wines in Spain.
In 1951, the first Gramona III Lustros was created, released in 1961.
In 2021 The Gramona family celebrated 100 years as a sparkling wine producer and 140 years as a grape grower.
Today, the Gramona story is continued by the fifth and sixth generations – Jaume, Roc and Leonard Gramona – following the principles of sustainability and quality.
Traditional method and exceptional quality
Gramona wines are produced using the traditional method (Méthode Traditionnelle), identical to champagne production, and their maturation period ranges from 18 months to even 12 years – more than double the standard Cava requirements.
What makes Gramona sparkling wines stand out?
In addition to the traditional Cava grapes (Xarel·lo, Macabeo, Parellada), they also use Chardonnay, which gives it an elegant and international style.
Taste: aromas of nuts, freshly baked pastries and autolysis (yeast decomposition).
Naturally low in sugar, but with a balanced and delicate acidity.
A new generation of quality: Corpinnat
After a long-standing commitment to improving Cava’s reputation, in 2019 Gramona left the official DO Cava designation of origin and became one of the founding members of the Corpinnat association. Corpinnat means “born in the heart” and represents the highest quality sparkling wines produced exclusively in the Penedès region, following strict organic production and long-term maturation requirements.
