Bourgeois Sancerre Pure 2024 is a fresh, precise and terroir-driven ‘Sauvignon Blanc’ from one of the most renowned producers in Sancerre. This wine is crafted to emphasize purity and precision, without the influence of oak or excessive intervention. It represents a modern, clean-style Sancerre, expressing the minerality and vibrant freshness characteristic of the Loire Valley.
On the nose, bright notes of lemon and lime appear immediately, accompanied by crisp green apples, white peaches, and complemented by hints of gooseberry, elderflower and freshly cut herbs. In the background, a clear mineral layer unfolds, with nuances of wet stone and chalk.
On the palate, the wine is precise and exceptionally fresh. The opening is dominated by citrus and orchard fruit accents, enhanced by nuances of passion fruit and grapefruit. A lively, almost electric acidity brings tension and energy to the wine. The texture is clean and elegant, while the flavor profile is marked by the distinctive flinty minerality typical of Sancerre.
Sancerre Pure 2024 is produced from carefully selected vineyards on the slopes of Sancerre, where the soils consist of limestone, flint (silex) and clay-limestone layers. This diversity of terroirs gives the wine aromatic brightness and an expressive mineral backbone.
The grapes are hand-harvested at optimal ripeness in order to preserve maximum freshness and aromatic purity. The wine is fermented in stainless steel tanks at low temperatures and later aged on fine lees to develop subtle texture. Oak barrels are not used.
Serve at 10-12 °C with roasted lobster, flounder in cream sauce, goat cheese stuffed peppers, sorrel, seafood, fresh/aged goat cheese (Crotin).
Situated in the village of Chavignol Domaine Henri Bourgeois is one of the larger private Sancerre domaines and have vineyards on some the the best sites in the appellation. The domaine is run today by the 10th generation of the family in the shape of General Manager - Arnaud Bourgeois, Viticulturist - Lionel Bourgeois and Winemaker - Jean-Christophe Bourgeois. They make several cuvées and are keen to emphasise the different characteristics of the various vineyards used even though the grape variety remains the same. Possibly to emphasise their passion for Sauvignon Blanc they also establised the well regarded Clos Henri Vineyard in that grape's more recent heartland, Marlborough in New Zealand.
