Hin Areni is an Armenian winery located in the village of Areni, one of the oldest and most important winemaking regions in the country. It is here, in the Vayots Dzor valley, that archaeological findings testify to more than 6,000 years of winemaking history, making Areni the cradle of Armenian viticulture.
The winery’s name deliberately emphasizes its connection to history – “Hin” means old in Armenian, while Areni refers both to the location and to one of the most important local grape varieties. This name reflects the producer’s philosophy: respect for origin, tradition, and the natural character of wine.
Hin Areni wines are created following minimal intervention principles, aiming to preserve the natural expression of the grapes and the uniqueness of the terroir. Great attention is paid to vineyard work, hand harvesting, and gentle processing.
For part of the production, traditional karasi (clay vessels) are used, allowing the wine to ferment and mature naturally while maintaining authentic structure, clean aromas, and subtle tannins. At the same time, modern winemaking techniques are applied to ensure stability and precision.
Hin Areni wines are characterized by moderate alcohol, vibrant acidity, elegant structure, and mineral-driven freshness, typical of high-altitude vineyards. Special focus is placed on indigenous grape varieties, especially Areni Noir, considered the flagship red grape of Armenia.
These wines are often chosen by those seeking authentic, unforced expressions of place, where origin and balance matter more than technological intervention.
