Arvydas Padvaiskas distilery

1–1 of 1

The Arvydas Padvaiskas distillery sits in Glitiškės, just outside Vilnius, in a manor house built for the Jeleński family in 1923. It opened in 2020 with a single ambition: to prove that Lithuanian apples can yield a world-class spirit of the kind the French call Calvados and the Americans call apple jack.

Up to 190 apple varieties go into production. The juice is fermented into apple wine and distilled on two German Müller stills, with every batch tested in the distillery's own laboratory. Part of the spirit is bottled unaged – fresh, clear and full of orchard aroma – while the rest matures in casks of oak, mulberry, cherry, chestnut and acacia, gaining depth, spice and dried-fruit character.

The range includes the unaged apple wine spirit Apple Jack, the aged apple brandies Padvaiskas-San and Hanami, the gin Vandenyno širdis ("Heart of the Ocean") and the whisky Juodoji Zita ("Black Zita"). The distillery's spirits have won a Gold medal at "Choose Lithuanian Product 2024" and a Bronze at the London Spirits Competition 2025.

The manor also houses a museum of historic distilling equipment and an old pharmacy, a café and a tasting room, so visitors can follow the whole journey from apple to glass.
