Caves Canals Nadal

1–3 of 3

Caves Canals Nadal (also known as Bodega Canals Nadal) – a family winery founded in 1986, yet its roots go back to the 19th century, when the Canals Nadal family was renowned as both winemakers and master coopers (toneleros). Founder Antoni Canals Nadal, together with his sons – including oenologist Joan Miquel Canals Bosch – inherited knowledge and expertise from their father and grandfather, continuing the long-standing winemaking traditions of the family.

Wine Style

Canals Nadal wines stand out for their respect for tradition combined with a touch of innovation. The focus lies on local Penedès grape varieties – ‘Macabeo’, ‘Xarel·lo’, and ‘Parellada’. Using the classic méthode traditionnelle, the winery produces a diverse range of Cava – from fresh, light styles full of citrus and floral notes, to more mature, complex, and elegant expressions.

  • Brut – fresh and light, highlighting pure fruit character.
  • Brut Reserva – more subtle, with added structure and maturity.
  • Brut Nature Reserva – dry, mineral, refined, showcasing the terroir’s purity.

Prestigious Vineyards

The winery is located in the village of El Pla del Penedès, right in the heart of the D.O. Cava zone in Catalonia. The vineyards, planted on limestone and clay soils, give the wines vibrancy, minerality, and elegance. As a small, family-run estate, Canals Nadal ensures meticulous vineyard work and close control of the winemaking process – hallmarks of a boutique winery.

Ageing and Drinking Window

Canals Nadal wines are matured following the classic traditions of Cava production. Secondary fermentation takes place in the bottle, with ageing periods ranging from several months to several years depending on the style. The younger wines delight with freshness and fruitiness, while longer-aged bottlings reveal greater complexity and elegant structure.
