Managed by Pascal and Jean-Marc Verhaeghe, the estate is famous for its dedication to nature—all their vineyards are certified organic. Historically, the Cahors region was known for its "black wines," and "Château du Cèdre" masterfully tames the Malbec grape to create beverages not only of dark color but also of exceptional elegance and fruitiness. Fermentation with natural yeasts and aging in large oak barrels give the wines a velvety texture.
Intense and structured Malbec wines are built for serious gastronomy. They pair perfectly with grilled beef steaks, venison stews, roasted duck, and aged cheeses. For a rich dinner, we recommend pairing them with meat products from our wine snacks selection.
How does Cahors Malbec differ from Argentine Malbec?
French Cahors Malbec is generally more tannic, darker, with crisper acidity and aromas of earth and dark berries, whereas Argentine Malbec is known for sweeter fruitiness and a softer profile.
Are "Château du Cèdre" wines suitable for long-term cellaring?
Yes, the higher-tier wines from this producer (e.g., "Le Cèdre" or "GC") have massive potential and can evolve beautifully in the bottle for 10–20 years.
Can I pick up these items quickly?
