Read moreWhile the Esquissaud family had owned the estate since 1823, the real turning point came in 1987 when Pierre-Bernard Guisez inherited the property. He focused on elevating the wine to Grand Cru Classé standards, shifting away from local merchant sales to global prestige. Today, owned by luxury mogul Silvio Denz, Château Faugères stands as a symbol of modern winemaking excellence, famously featuring a "cathedral of wine" cellar designed by architect Mario Botta.
The 37-hectare vineyard is situated on a limestone plateau with south- to southeast-facing slopes, ensuring ideal drainage and sun exposure. The plantings are dominated by Merlot (85%), complemented by Cabernet Franc (10%) and Cabernet Sauvignon (5%). With vines averaging 35 years of age, the estate practices natural and sustainable viticulture to preserve the purity of the fruit.
In addition to the main "grand vin," the estate produces a second label, Haut Faugeres. Made from younger vines, it offers a more approachable profile while maintaining the high standards and elegance associated with the estate. You can explore more options in our red wine section.
