Family estate located on the right bank of Bordeaux, in the Gensac area, combining generations of winemaking experience with organic viticulture principles. The producer focuses on fruit purity, balance, and the expression of each vineyard’s origin, creating wines based on the classical Bordeaux style.
The estate’s history began in 1950, when Angelo and Huguette Fontana founded the family property in the village of Gensac. Over several generations, the vineyards were gradually expanded, and today the estate is managed by the third generation of the Fontana family. In recent years, particular attention has been given to organic viticulture, soil vitality, and sustainable farming practices – the entire estate is certified organic.

Domaine Fontana-Chiquet wines are created to preserve the classical Bordeaux balance between fruit, freshness, and structure. The red wines reveal a combination of ripe black fruits, plums, spices, and subtle oak notes, while barrel ageing is used with restraint, complementing rather than masking the character of the fruit.
The white wines show fresh aromas of citrus fruits, white flowers, and tropical fruits, supported by lively acidity and a mineral finish. The estate also produces sweet Bordeaux-style wines from later-harvested grapes, where the balance between natural sweetness and refreshing acidity remains essential.
The vineyards of Domaine Fontana-Chiquet are located around Gensac, where clay and limestone soils dominate. This terroir provides the wines with structure, freshness, and good ageing potential. The vineyards are planted with traditional Bordeaux varieties – Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Cabernet Franc, as well as Sauvignon Blanc, Sémillon, and Muscadelle – allowing the estate to produce different wine styles while maintaining a clear regional identity.
