The respected Dupond family has been part of the wine world for more than a century and a half. It all began in the mid-19th century, when Antoine Dupond, originally from the Cru Beaujolais area, started selling his wines in Lyon and Saint-Étienne in the 1860s. In 1880, his son Joanny Dupond expanded the family’s holdings, combining the winemaking traditions of Beaujolais and the Côtes du Rhône. This union laid the foundation for a unique style where the elegance of the north meets the power of the south.
Today, the estate is led by Hervé Dupond, the fifth generation of the family, who combines inherited savoir-faire with a modern vision. He has expanded production, built long-term partnerships with local growers—families who have worked alongside the Duponds for generations—and modernized the winery while preserving its traditional spirit. Each year, Hervé selects the finest vineyard parcels, ensuring that every wine faithfully expresses its terroir of origin.
Wine style
Pierre Dupond wines represent a refined balance between Burgundian elegance and Rhône character. Hervé believes that wine should speak for itself, so the entire production process follows a philosophy of minimal intervention: natural fermentation, no chemical additives, and aging in temperature-controlled concrete tanks.
Hervé Dupond aims to create wines that are approachable, harmonious, and authentic, yet also possess aging potential, allowing them to evolve gracefully over time.

The family’s philosophy is grounded in the belief that wine is the voice of the soil. Each parcel is cultivated separately to highlight its distinct personality and sense of place.
Aging and drinking window
Pierre Dupond wines are aged in concrete tanks, which maintain stable temperatures and allow the wines to mature naturally. This approach preserves pure fruit expression and a smooth texture, while avoiding excessive oak influence.
The younger wines are delightful and expressive immediately after release, showcasing freshness and liveliness. The finest Cru bottlings, however, can age gracefully for 5–10 years, developing greater complexity and depth with time.
Pierre Dupond today stands as a bridge between Burgundy and the Rhône—a testament to heritage, terroir precision, and respect for nature. Each bottle embodies a harmonious dialogue between tradition and modern craftsmanship.
