Description

Opus One Napa Valley 2022 is one of the most iconic wines of Napa Valley, born from the shared vision of Robert Mondavi and Baron Philippe de Rothschild to create a single, top-level wine. The 2022 vintage is dominated by ‘Cabernet Sauvignon’ (80%), complemented by ‘Petit Verdot’, ‘Cabernet Franc’, ‘Merlot’ and a small part of ‘Malbec’, so the wine maintains the classic logic of Bordeaux structure, but at the same time speaks the language of Napa Valley very clearly.

The aroma reveals notes of blueberries, black currants and dried rose petals, complemented by nuances of olives, cigar boxes and graphite. It is not heavy or overripe, but very precise, multi-layered aroma, which combines maturity and restrained, classic spice depth.

The wine is harmonious, concentrated and elegant. The red fruit direction is accompanied by cocoa, orange peel, wet stone, vanilla and a light coffee tone, fine tannins. This is a wine in which the strength is not demonstrative - it is more controlled, integrated and oriented towards longer maturity.

The 2022 season was shaped by abundant early winter precipitation, followed by a dry late winter period, and the heat prevailing during the harvest required extremely precise decision-making in the vineyard. Nevertheless, the farm emphasizes that the harvest stood out for both flavor maturity and freshness; the harvest took place from August 24 to September 26.

Fermentation and maceration lasted 20, then the wine was aged for 18 months in new French oak barrel

Serving recommendations

Serve at a temperature of 16-18 °C with beef steaks/stews with forest mushrooms, mildly smoked beef sausage stew with red beans, game stews with vegetables.

About brand

Opus One Winery – a legendary Napa Valley wine icon
Opus One Winery is one of the most famous and prestigious wineries in California, located in the Oakville AVA, Napa Valley. Founded in 1978 as a partnership between two wine legends – Robert Mondavi (USA) and Baron Philippe de Rothschild (Château Mouton Rothschild, France), Opus One has pursued one goal from the beginning: to create world-class premium Bordeaux-style red wine.
The Oakville AVA is famous for its ideal climate for growing Cabernet Sauvignon grapes. The winery manages about 55 hectares of vineyards, carefully maintained according to the principles of sustainable farming.
Grapes and winemaking
Opus One creates one main wine – Opus One Red Wine – and a secondary wine Overture. Both wines are made using five grape varieties from the classic Bordeaux blend:
• Cabernet Sauvignon
• Cabernet Franc
• Merlot
• Petit Verdot
• Malbec
Production process:
• Manual harvesting and optical sorting of grapes
• Fermentation with gravity systems (no pumps)
• Aging in 100% new French oak barrels for ~19–20 months
• Long bottle aging before release
This meticulous process allows the wine to stand out for its depth, structure, longevity and elegance.

Architecture and wine experience
The Opus One building is an architectural masterpiece that combines modernism and classicism, designed to allow winemaking to proceed naturally from the top to the cellar by gravity.
Opus One is a Napa Green certified winery.
