Kažums Winery Varduve White 2024 is a cold-climate white wine, where the main thing is not massive concentration, but freshness, clear fruitiness and a lively acid rhythm. The aroma - notes of green apples, limes, white flowers, complemented by slightly riper pear or peach undertones. The wine is light-bodied, fresh, with clear acidity and a clean, straight aftertaste - this style best suits both the profile of the ‘Varduva’ variety and the northern direction of the Kažums winery.
Serve at 10-12°C with lighter white fish, asparagus, soft goat and coffee milk cheeses, and vegetable salads.
Kažums Winery is a winery located in Latvia, near Bauska in the Zemgale region. Its founder, Gatis Kužums, continues the family’s winemaking and viticulture traditions. The history of the estate dates back to Gatis’s father, Andrejs Kužums, who began growing grapes as early as the 1970s.
Today, it is not only a winery but also a serious centre for grape variety trials and selection. More than 300 varieties are grown here, and the collection grows and is replenished with new varieties every year.
Kažums Winery produces wines exclusively from grapes grown in Zemgale. The winery continuously searches for varieties that are best suited to Latvia’s cool climate. For this reason, Kažums Winery is important to Latvia not only as a wine producer, but also as one of the most prominent examples of northern viticulture in the Baltic region. Here, variety selection, experimentation, and the search for the best local terroir are seamlessly combined.
