Description

Wimmer-Czerny Grüner Veltliner Wagramterrassen 2024 is a dry white wine from the Wagram region of Austria, originating from the Fels am Wagram area. It is a biodynamically grown wine according to Demeter principles, reflecting the classic ‘Grüner Veltliner’ style of this region: fresh, precise, mineral and not overloaded. The wine is made from vines about 50 years old, growing in deep loess soil, so its character combines liveliness, clear fruitiness and clear structure.

The aroma is characterized by apple and citrus notes, complemented by mineral nuances. The wine is clean, easily appetizing and very typical of young Wagram ‘Grüner Veltliner’.

The wine is lively and juicy, with a bright but well-balanced acidity, a spicy aftertaste.

The wine has 6.1 g/l of acid and just 1.5 g/l of residual sugar, which is why the wine maintains a dry, fresh and energetic profile.

The terroir of this wine is important for its style. The grapes grow on the Ried “Hammer” plot, on the southeastern slope of the Felser hill. The soil consists of deep loess and sandy loam, and the gravel of the old Danube bed lies deeper. It is this combination that often gives Wagram wines not only fruitiness, but also a soft, broad texture and a subtle mineral support.

The emphasis in winemaking is on naturalness and precision: the grapes are hand-picked in early September, fermented in stainless steel tanks with natural, local yeasts, and then aged for about 9 months with yeast lees and bottled directly from the lees, “sur lie”. As a result, the wine acquires a little more depth and texture.

Serving recommendations

Serve at 8-10 °C with fish or white meat dishes, salads, and appetizers.
