Fortified sweet
Lágrima, a truly special Port wine with over a century of history, beloved by the Portuguese for its luscious sweetness and rich character. This iconic wine offers an unforgettable journey for those who appreciate the ultimate expression of ripe grapes and traditional craftsmanship.
This port wine presents a predominantly golden colour. On the nose, amidst its characteristic fruit and sweetness, floral aromas of camomile and orange blossom truly stand out, complemented by delicate hints of honey. The palate is light and unctuous, brimming with flavours of ripe fruit enveloped by an intense freshness. It culminates in a rich, persistent finish that leaves a wonderfully pleasant touch of honey.
This, the sweetest of all Port wines, boasts around 140 grams of sugar per liter, achieving its remarkable body and density from very ripe grapes. Codega, Malvasia Fina, and Rabigato grapes are sourced from regions known for their high degree of ripeness. They undergo intense skin maceration in accordance with age-old Port wine traditions, ensuring the profound flavour and structure that make Lágrima a true classic.
Serve at 8-12°C as an aperitif or with foie gras desserts dominated by nuts.
Ramos Pinto Cellars was founded by Adriano Ramos Pinto in 1880. Its innovative business strategy and its quality wine transformed this once small cellar into one of the most important in Porto and it was once accountable for half of the wine exported to South America.
