Lágrima Porto is a style of Port wine with a history spanning more than a century, highly cherished by the Portuguese for its pronounced sweetness and rich, expressive character. It is considered one of the sweetest styles of Port, containing around 140 grams of residual sugar per liter.
On the nose, alongside its characteristic fruitiness, floral aromas stand out — notably chamomile and orange blossom, complemented by delicate honey notes. On the palate, the wine is light, soft and silky, bursting with ripe fruit flavors wrapped in vibrant freshness. The finish is rich and long-lasting, marked by lingering honeyed accents.
The grapes — ‘Codega’, ‘Malvasia Fina’ and ‘Rabigato’ — are sourced from regions known for optimal ripeness. They undergo intensive skin maceration, following traditional Port wine methods, which ensures depth, structure and aromatic intensity. In this way, Lágrima Port becomes a true classic expression of the region.
Serve at 8-12°C as an aperitif or with foie gras desserts or cakes and tartlets with a nutty flavor.
Ramos Pinto Cellars was founded by Adriano Ramos Pinto in 1880. Its innovative business strategy and its quality wine transformed this once small cellar into one of the most important in Porto and it was once accountable for half of the wine exported to South America.
