Description

Zyplių Manor Red Wine 2024 – a fresh, light- to medium-bodied Lithuanian red from the surroundings of Zyplių Manor (Šakiai district, Suvalkija region), crafted as part of the "Vyno kerai" project. The style is focused on clean fruitiness, moderate acidity and gentle tannins.

Aroma The nose is dominated by cherries, cranberries and forest berries, with light herbal nuances appearing in the background, lending a sense of dryness and "northern" freshness.

Palate On the palate – clean fruitiness, medium acidity and a soft tannin structure, which keeps the wine light yet not flat. The finish is fresh and tidy, more about the brightness of berries than about sweetness.

Terroir The "Vyno kerai" vineyard has been re-established on the grounds of Zyplių Manor; the grapes are grown in open-field conditions, with a careful selection of hardy varietals suited to the northern region. Such conditions naturally lead to wines whose backbone is freshness, pronounced acidity and a distinct sense of place.

Winemaking and Ageing The producer emphasises a more natural approach to winemaking, small batches, hand-crafted work and meticulous fruit selection, shaping the wines so that they reflect the weather and decisions of each particular vintage.

Serving recommendations

Serve at 14–16 °C with poultry dishes, vegetable stews with mushrooms, roasted beets, pork loin with cranberry sauce or softer cheeses.

About brand

“Vyno kerai” is one of the most distinctive and consistently developing Lithuanian winemaking projects, located at Zypliai Manor in the Šakiai region, in the historic area of Suvalkija. Here, winemaking is treated as a long-term cultural endeavor that brings together local terroir, historical heritage, and a modern approach to wine production.

The vineyard established on the grounds of Zypliai Manor is a strong example of how grapes can be successfully grown in Lithuania and transformed into high-quality local wine. The vines are cultivated outdoors, carefully adapted to the Lithuanian climate, with cold-resistant grape varieties selected specifically for northern growing conditions. As a result, the wines are characterized by freshness, vibrant acidity, and a clear sense of place.

Winemaking Philosophy

“Vyno kerai” focuses on:

  • natural winemaking principles,
  • small-batch production,
  • hands-on craftsmanship and careful grape selection,
  • authentic expression of flavor rather than mass production.

Each wine reflects not only the grape variety but also the specific vintage conditions, soil characteristics, and maturation decisions. These are wines with identity, character, and a strong connection to their origin.

In addition to producing their own wines, “Vyno kerai” also supplies winemaking equipment, supporting both beginners and experienced winemakers. This activity naturally complements their own practice and contributes to the broader development of winemaking culture in Lithuania.
