Aalto PS Ribera del Duero DO 2020 is an outstanding choice for wine lovers seeking a high-quality, complex, and profound wine. This wine offers a long, fresh, and expressive finish, with beautifully integrated tannins and impressive breadth on the palate, revealing multiple layers of complexity developed during its aging period (21 months in new French oak barrels).
The wine is produced from old vines aged between 60 and 90 years. Grapes sourced from the prestigious La Horra and La Aguilera vineyards contribute distinctive aromatic depth, led by ripe black fruit notes, seamlessly intertwined with spicy oak nuances and a subtle mineral backbone.
Aalto PS 2020 not only reflects the unique character of the region but also stands out for its balance of fruit intensity and elegance. Lots of depth here, with ripe blackberries and some nicely baked black cherries, roasted herbs, incense, dark spices, mussels and a balsamic tinge. An admirably fine dollop of tannins on the palate, which are immaculate and juicy, as they thoroughly dunk into the black fruit, melting into a persistent finish that lasts for over a minute. Very impressive.
The heady and ripe 2020 PS follows the house style and the profile of the regular Aalto from the same vintage, with slightly higher ripeness, more creaminess and toastier oak. It's predictable and very good at it, with abundant, slightly dusty tannins and some chalkiness in the pungent, intense and oaky finish. It has 15% alcohol and mellow acidity.
