Red dry

Le Clarence de Haut-Brion Pessac Leognan 2010

Description

The second wine of the legendary Haut-Brion is now called Le Clarence de Haut-Brion. The wine's aromas reveal themselves slowly, and after decanting, notes of plum jam, currants, as well as cocoa and spice emerge. On the palate, it shows excellent structure and subtly expressed tannins, beautifully complemented by fruity notes alongside currant and spice nuances.

Serving recommendations

Serve at 16–18 °C with game stew, beef steak with grilled vegetables or mature cheeses.

James Suckling

Quite jammy on the nose with lots of fruit. Plums, berries and jam. Full body, with a fluid center palate and chewy tannins. Round and rich. Seems more upfront and friendly than the second wine of La Mission. 52% Merlot, 36% Cabernet Sauvignon, 10% Cabernet Franc, and 2% Petit Verdot. Better in 2018.

About brand

When he purchased Château Haut-Brion in 1935, Clarence Dillon restored it to its former glory and to the elite circle of the most legendary wines in the world. This extraordinary, bold, courageous vision is now continued by the fourth generation of the family, represented by Prince Robert of Luxembourg, Chairman since 2008.Located in the town of Pessac, just a few kilometres from Bordeaux, Château Haut-Brion – the first of the three estates acquired by the Dillon family – is the oldest winegrowing property in the region.
