Fruit and berry dry
Mėmelis sparkling rosé wine "Prökuls" – an extra-dry gooseberry sparkling wine made by the traditional (classic) method in the Klaipėda district. It is produced from a blend of green and red gooseberries, aged on the lees for 12 months, with a residual sugar level of up to 2 g/l. The name "Prökuls" is the old German name for Priekulė.
Aroma In the glass – a "red gold" hue and a very distinct coastal freshness: gooseberries, grapefruit zest, a hint of rowan, with a floral background reminiscent of marigolds. The aroma is clean, without any impression of artificial sweetness – more about fruit acidity and skin nuances.
Palate On the palate, the wine is light and refreshing, with a well-structured acidic framework and a slightly bitter note (grapefruit / berry skin) that suits the extra-dry style very well. The bubbles are fine, the finish is clean, leaning toward a more "saline" gastronomic direction.
Terroir The "Memel Wine" winery is located on the Lithuanian seacoast, between Priekulė and Dreverna – here, sea breezes, cooler summers and a longer ripening period help preserve vibrant natural acidity and aromatic purity. This context is felt in the "Prökuls" style as energy and freshness rather than sweetness.
Serve at 6–8 °C as an aperitif, with fried fish from the Curonian Lagoon, aubergine or duck stew.
