White dry
“Reichsgraf von Kesselstatt Wiltinger Riesling Trocken” 2023 – a classic, precise and elegant Saar ‘Riesling’, reflecting the region’s cool climate and dark slate terroir. This is a VDP.ORTSWEIN wine from the Wiltingen area, which the farm itself describes as the most elegant of the trio of wines from the Moselle, Ruwer and Saar villages – smoky salty, precisely clear and very lively.
The aroma reveals lime, white peach, melon and green apple, and alongside the fruit there is a stony, smoky mineral note.
The wine is lively and very clean, with polished acidity, juicy and a long, mineral aftertaste.
The residual sugar here is 7.8 g/l, the acid is 6 g/l.
The character of the wine is shaped by the cool climate and dark Devonian clay shale characteristic of the Saar Valley. Such soils retain heat well, but at the same time retain a clear mineral tension, and the longer vegetation helps the Riesling grapes to ripen slowly, preserving their acidity and precise aromatics. This is why Saar Riesling is often distinguished by its elegance, minerality and extremely clear fruit expression
Serve at 8-10°C with marinated chicken with lemon, mackerel, trout, vegetable dishes, Asian or Thai cuisine.
