Sparkling dry
For lovers of expressive Pinot Noir Champagnes, Eric Rodez Les Beurys Pinot Noir Ambonnay Grand Cru 2017 is an absolute must. A rare single-vineyard Champagne from one of the highest-rated Grand Cru sites.
The aromas reveal notes of pear, mandarin, dried white flowers, cherry, and yellow plum, elegantly framed by hints of oak and blanched almonds. On the palate, it is silky and refined, yet retains impressive depth and concentration. The wine displays both fruity and mineral character, supported by vibrant acidity and a long, expressive finish.
The Pinot Noir grapes for this cuvée are sourced exclusively from the Les Beurys vineyard parcel, part of Rodez’s 6-hectare estate located southeast of Reims in the Grand Cru village of Ambonnay. The Pinot Noir vines average 35 years of age and are rooted in limestone-rich soils.
The Champagne is aged on its lees in bottle for five years before release.
Served at 8-10°C with sea urchin, stuffed turkey with cranberry sauce, pan-roasted duck with cherry sauce and grilled vegetables, soft cheeses such as brie or camembert.
Eric Rodez – an eighth-generation grape grower, is based in the kingdom of ‘Pinot Noir’ grapes, the village of Ambonnay, classified as a top Grand Cru. His estate spans just 6 hectares of mature vineyards, from which about 40,000 bottles of champagne are produced annually. Nearly 80 percent of the wine's primary fermentation takes place in Burgundian oak barrels, and a large proportion (around 70%) of reserve wines are used for the champagnes.
The Eric Rodez Champagne house is characterized by sustainability and responsibility towards nature and future generations. They completely avoid herbicides and pesticides, and the vineyards are managed according to organic and biodynamic principles. A minimal amount of sulfites is used, and even some champagne production choices are driven by their environmental friendliness (which is why malolactic fermentation is not blocked).
