Red dry
Clos Apalta Le Petit Clos 2021 is an elegant Chilean red wine that blends the precision of French winemaking with the concentration shaped by South America's sunny climate. Crafted in the prestigious Apalta Valley, this vintage received 96 points from James Suckling, making it one of the highest-rated editions of Le Petit Clos.
The wine captivates with a deep ruby-violet hue and a complex bouquet where notes of dried plums, blackberries, baked cherries, and dark chocolate intertwine. In the background, hints of graphite, dried herbs, and a touch of menthol bring freshness and mineral tension.
On the palate, it is concentrated yet elegant, with silky tannins, a juicy berry core, and subtle oak spice. The finish is long, clean, with vibrant acidity and gentle herbal undertones.
The blend is composed of ‘Carmenère’ 68%, ‘Cabernet Sauvignon’ 16%, ‘Merlot’ 15%, and ‘Cabernet Franc’ 1%. The wine was aged for 19 months – 37% in new and 63% in used French oak barrels – and was fermented using only native yeasts.
Serve at 16-18°C with lamb roast, game stew with wild mushrooms, dark chocolate.
It is rare for a place to be able to captivate a person so immediately, with so much force. It was 1994. After months of research, Alexandra Marnier Lapostolle and her husband, Cyril de Bournet, discovered the Apalta Valley. A fine, golden light embraced the vineyard whilst hundred-year old-vines stood, intertwining majestically. Harmony had taken residence here. Alexandra Marnier Lapostolle knew that Clos Apalta could bring about the joyful encapsulation of this breathtaking landscape. As the terroir is a living matter, Clos Apalta has opened up to organics in the gentlest possible way. From then on, helping to preserve the natural and pure feel of the different terroirs became an absolute priority. The vineyard receives the best care possible.
