Armagnac Darroze Domaine de Martin 1998 0.2 L

47,00

Description

Hailing from the renowned Bas-Armagnac region, the 1998 vintage from the Domaine de Martin estate is a spirit of extraordinary maturity and complexity, boasting a deep, classic profile. Decades of careful aging in oak barrels have resulted in perfect harmony and a beautifully round, silky character.

The aroma is rich and multifaceted, slowly revealing enticing notes of caramelized pears, dried figs, and noble wood, accompanied by a subtle, sophisticated whisper of rancio. On the palate, the spirit is full-bodied and velvety, brimming with baked apples, vanilla, and delicate nuances of leather and tobacco, culminating in an endlessly long, warming finish.

Best enjoyed neat at room temperature (18–20 °C) in a traditional tulip-shaped glass, allowing the complex aromas to fully develop. It beautifully complements hard aged cheeses, a rich cup of espresso, nutty desserts, or stands perfectly on its own to cap off an evening.

About brand

Darroze in the world of Armagnac stands for far more than quality — it represents a philosophy. It is a family story spanning more than a century and one of the most authentic expressions of the Gascony region.

The story began at the end of the 19th century, when the Darroze family started working with local winegrowers in Gascony. However, it was in the mid-20th century, thanks to Francis Darroze, that the house took on its present identity. He understood that the true value of Armagnac lies not in volume or blending for consistency, but in specific places, soils, vintages, and the human hand behind them.

Darroze Armagnac is never blended to achieve a uniform taste profile. Each bottle reflects a single estate, a single harvest, and a single story. It is a spirit that evolves, matures, and gains complexity with time. For this reason, Darroze is often compared to great wines rather than industrial spirits.

Most Darroze Armagnacs come from the Bas-Armagnac region, considered the most refined and elegant part of the appellation. The sandy and clay-rich soils give the distillates their signature softness, aromatic depth, and long aging potential. Distillation is carried out using the traditional continuous column still, followed by slow, natural maturation in French oak barrels.

Today, Darroze is regarded as one of the most important guardians of traditional Armagnac. Its creations are highly valued by collectors, sommeliers, and spirits enthusiasts around the world.

This is not a mass-produced spirit — it is a living piece of Gascony’s history in a glass.
