An exceptional, mature single domaine Armagnac created by the Darroze family, who for more than seven decades have perfected the art of distillation and aging in the Bas-Armagnac region. This edition — a Domaine de Péré distillate — was distilled in 1994 and aged for over 25 years in oak casks, reaching a perfect balance between fruitiness, spice, and the warmth of oak maturity.
The Domaine de Péré estate lies in Bas-Armagnac, a region renowned for its “sables fauves” — warm, sandy soils rich in iron oxides. This terroir imparts softness, subtle minerality, and refined fruit character to the distillates. Grapes, mainly Baco and Folle Blanche, ripen slowly here, allowing the Armagnac to develop a deep aromatic complexity and a pure, elegant structure.
On the nose, it reveals notes of dried plums, figs, orange peel, and honey, complemented by vanilla, oak, tobacco, cocoa, and fine spices. The bouquet is deep, mature, and harmonious, filled with the warmth and elegance typical of Bas-Armagnac.
On the palate, it is rich and rounded, layered with caramel, vanilla, dried fruits, chocolate, and oak spice. The texture is silky and slightly oily, revealing the depth of aging and a gentle balance of tannins. The finish is long, warm, and subtly smoky, leaving hints of tobacco, honey, and delicate spices.
This is a classic, elegant, and refined Bas-Armagnac, combining the precision of the Darroze family with the terroir expression of Domaine de Péré. Domaine de Péré 1994 is a harmonious, delicately fruity, and mature spirit, crafted for slow savoring and contemplative moments — when one wishes to experience the union of time, place, and mastery captured in a glass.
