Description

Hailing from the village of Hontanx in the prestigious Bas-Armagnac region, the 2001 vintage from the Domaine de Martin estate is a spirit of exceptional elegance and maturity. Long aging in oak barrels has allowed this Armagnac to develop a rich, expressive flavor profile that beautifully reflects a masterful blend of traditional grape varieties (Baco, Ugni Blanc, Folle Blanche, and Colombard).

The nose reveals intense and inviting aromas of dried apricots, baked apples, and hazelnuts, delicately wrapped in notes of vanilla and cinnamon. On the palate, the spirit stands out with a full-bodied, rounded texture, well-integrated tannins, and a long, warming finish characterized by noble wood and sweet baking spices.

Serve neat as a luxurious after-dinner digestif for slow sipping at room temperature. It beautifully complements hard aged cheeses, rich espresso, fruit tarts, or stands perfectly on its own for a contemplative evening.

About brand

Darroze in the world of Armagnac stands for far more than quality — it represents a philosophy. It is a family story spanning more than a century and one of the most authentic expressions of the Gascony region.

The story began at the end of the 19th century, when the Darroze family started working with local winegrowers in Gascony. However, it was in the mid-20th century, thanks to Francis Darroze, that the house took on its present identity. He understood that the true value of Armagnac lies not in volume or blending for consistency, but in specific places, soils, vintages, and the human hand behind them.

Darroze Armagnac is never blended to achieve a uniform taste profile. Each bottle reflects a single estate, a single harvest, and a single story. It is a spirit that evolves, matures, and gains complexity with time. For this reason, Darroze is often compared to great wines rather than industrial spirits.

Most Darroze Armagnacs come from the Bas-Armagnac region, considered the most refined and elegant part of the appellation. The sandy and clay-rich soils give the distillates their signature softness, aromatic depth, and long aging potential. Distillation is carried out using the traditional continuous column still, followed by slow, natural maturation in French oak barrels.

Today, Darroze is regarded as one of the most important guardians of traditional Armagnac. Its creations are highly valued by collectors, sommeliers, and spirits enthusiasts around the world.

This is not a mass-produced spirit — it is a living piece of Gascony’s history in a glass.
