Andreola 26° Primo Rive di Col S. Martino Brut Prosecco di Valdobbiadene Superiore DOCG – an expressive and terroir-expressing top-category Prosecco from the Conegliano Valdobbiadene Prosecco Superiore DOCG region. This wine is born on the historic slopes of Col San Martino – one of the most important “Rive” territories, famous for its steep hillside vineyards and the so-called “heroic winemaking”. The name “26° Primo” symbolizes an important moment in Andreola’s history – the generational change in the family farm and the consolidation of DOCG status in the region.
The wine is made from 100% ‘Glera’ grapes, grown at an altitude of 170-350 meters above sea level on extremely steep slopes. The calcareous, clayey and sandstone soils, together with the large temperature differences between day and night, give the wine aromatic intensity and a fresh structure. Due to the difficult terrain, all work in the vineyards is done by hand.
The aroma reveals notes of white flowers, acacia, wisteria, green apples, pears, citrus and white peaches. Alongside the fruitiness, subtle mineral and slightly herbal nuances are felt. The bubbles are fine and extremely elegant, giving the wine creaminess and precision.
The wine is fresh and very precise. The “Brut” style allows the character of the terroir and the ‘Glera’ variety to be revealed more - citrus freshness, apple and white fruit notes and a subtle salty minerality are felt. The aftertaste is clean, elegant and long-lasting.
The wine is produced using the Martinotti-Charmat method, with secondary fermentation taking place in large pressure tanks. After fermentation, the wine is kept for some time with the yeast sediment in order to give it more texture and complexity.
Serve at 6-8 °C with quality finger food comprising a selection of cheeses, salami, raw or fried fish, and with typical local cuisine.
Bright straw colour with a green hue and vivid foamy mousse. Discreet aromas of aromatic grapes, floral notes and fresh pineapple. A light palate with good flavour intensity, fine tension with good acidity and very low sugar, lemongrass and some tropical notes leading to a rather long finish.
Andreola winery, located just outside Valdobbiadene on the Col San Martino, produces Prosecco with a very distinctive flavor. Here the landscape is completely different with high hills with steep slopes and terraced vineyards. Stefano Pola, who runs the winery, draws on the long tradition of winemaking in the region, but does not shy away from modern solutions to improve quality. The family farm has 70 hectares of vineyards, dominated by Glera grapes, but not forgetting the old local varieties such as Verdiso, Bianchetta and Perera. In recent years, Andreola has received much praise from wine critics. Their first wine, Vigneto Dirupo Brut Prosecco di Valdobbiadene Superiore DOCG, which debuted back in 1984, was awarded the highest accolade of the Gamberro Rosso in 2019 - the Tre Bicchieri. Not surprisingly, this wine also won the best wine title at the 2019 Lithuanian Wine Championship.
