Red dry
Hominis Fides is an exceptional wine from Château de Saint Cosme, sourced from a single, old vineyard that expresses the deepest character of the Gigondas terroir. The wine comes from the Hominis Fides parcel, where Miocene-era sandy soils dominate, giving the wine refined tannins, depth, and remarkable elegance.
The аромат profile is marked by peonies, oriental spices, resinous notes, and ripe blueberries. The bouquet is deep and layered, gradually unfolding in the glass.
On the palate, the wine is structured yet exceptionally smooth. The tannins are fine and silky, characteristic of the Miocene sandy soils. The flavor profile is deep and elegant, supported by a subtle mineral backbone and a long, refined finish.
This is a subtly mysterious wine, where power is hidden beneath finesse. Fermentation is carried out using whole clusters, allowing spice, aromatic complexity, and natural texture to fully express themselves.
The wine is aged for 12 months, with:
20% in new oak barrels,
50% in second-use barrels,
30% in second- to third-use barrels.
The wine is unfiltered, preserving maximum aromatic purity and the authentic expression of its terroir.
Serve at 17-18 °C with roast turkey or duck, slow-cooked beef stews seasoned with mushrooms. This wine also pairs well with hard, mature cheeses seasoned with truffles.
Château de Saint Cosme is one of the oldest and most respected wineries in the southern Rhône Valley, located in the Gigondas appellation. The estate’s history dates back to the 16th century, and today it is run by Louis Barruol, representing the 14th generation of the family dedicated to preserving and developing this exceptional domaine.
The winery is renowned for its organic and biodynamic viticulture and for its highly precise work in the cellar. The vineyards grow on limestone, clay, and sandy soils, which give the wines structure, mineral tension, and remarkable ageing potential.
The estate’s flagship grape variety is ‘Grenache’, alongside ‘Syrah’, ‘Mourvèdre’, and ‘Cinsault’. Grapes are harvested by hand, fermentation is carried out with native yeasts, and ageing often takes place in old oak barrels or concrete vats to preserve the purity of the terroir and the authenticity of the wine.
Château de Saint Cosme wines are known for:
expressive yet balanced fruit character
elegant structure
pronounced minerality
excellent ageing potential
The estate is widely regarded as a benchmark of Gigondas, respected both in France and internationally as one of the most authentic expressions of the Southern Rhône.
