Red dry
A rich, concentrated yet fresh Vinsobres wine from one of Château de Rouanne’s highest hillside plots. The cool Vinsobres climate and limestone and marl soils give the wine structure, minerality and expressive freshness.
The nose reveals notes of dark berries, plum, cherry and wild herbs, complemented by hints of black pepper, spices and minerals. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied, concentrated and layered, with lively acidity, firm yet supple tannins and a long, spicy finish.
The wine is made from 'Grenache', 'Syrah' and 'Mourvèdre', with the grapes grown on a south-eastern-facing slope dominated by Pliocene and Miocene calcareous marls and clay. This cooler Vinsobres terroir preserves fruit concentration while giving the wine freshness and verticality.
The wine is made in a traditional style, using mainly larger wooden vessels and concrete to preserve fruit purity and terroir character. The 2020 vintage is marked by concentration, structure and well-balanced acidity, giving the wine both youthful appeal and ageing potential.
Serve at a temperature of 16–18 °C; it pairs well with roast lamb with rosemary, beef stew, or grilled sausage with vegetables.
Château de Saint Cosme is one of the oldest and most respected wineries in the southern Rhône Valley, located in the Gigondas appellation. The estate’s history dates back to the 16th century, and today it is run by Louis Barruol, representing the 14th generation of the family dedicated to preserving and developing this exceptional domaine.
The winery is renowned for its organic and biodynamic viticulture and for its highly precise work in the cellar. The vineyards grow on limestone, clay, and sandy soils, which give the wines structure, mineral tension, and remarkable ageing potential.
The estate’s flagship grape variety is ‘Grenache’, alongside ‘Syrah’, ‘Mourvèdre’, and ‘Cinsault’. Grapes are harvested by hand, fermentation is carried out with native yeasts, and ageing often takes place in old oak barrels or concrete vats to preserve the purity of the terroir and the authenticity of the wine.
