A Beaujolais Cru wine that reflects the character of the southern slopes of Brouilly Hill – fruity, elegant, and vibrant, yet possessing structure and excellent aging potential. Made from carefully selected ‘Gamay’ grapes grown on granite and blue basalt soils, this wine expresses both minerality and refined depth.
In the glass, it reveals aromas of ripe cherries, raspberries, blackberries, and violet flowers, complemented by subtle notes of spice, pepper, and earth. The bouquet is bright, inviting, and well-defined, typical of a high-quality Brouilly.
On the palate, the wine is medium-bodied, with a smooth texture, balanced acidity, and soft tannins. Flavors of red berries, gentle spices, and mineral nuances unfold into a long, fresh finish. It shows a harmonious combination of fruit purity, freshness, and refined structure.
The grapes undergo traditional carbonic maceration to preserve the varietal fruit expression and suppleness of ‘Gamay’, while aging in stainless steel tanks maintains the wine’s freshness and natural aromatic vitality.
Serve at 14–15 °C. Pairs well with: grilled chicken with Provençal herbs, duck salad with raspberry sauce, or lightly fried salmon with vegetables.
Lord Jules de Souzy, lived in Château de la Terrière during the 19th century and developed its reputation for the fine wines it produced. The range of wines Jules de Souzy – our winemaker range – is named in his honour. Jules de Souzy grapes are sourced from high density vineyards primarily in the Mâconnais and Beaujolais, and the wines vinified using traditional processes. We have an overriding respect for quality and the sustainable approaches utilised in the different vineyards.
