Clos Mogador Tinto Priorat DOQ 2020

99,00

Description

2020 Clos Mogador comes from Gratallops, one of sub-zones of Priorat. Here is a blend of Garnacha, Carignan, Syrah and Cabernet Sauvignon aged for 18 mounts in large 2000 litre foudres. The wine was fermented with only indigenous yeasts, 30% of grapes were with stems with maceration for 35-65 days. Limited production of 21 000 bottles.

The 2020 vintage was a difficult year. In spite of the resulting lower-than-normal yields, there is no doubt that the move towards working with regenerative agriculture and promoting biodiversity in the vineyards – creating more life and energy in the vineyards – is paying off in the final product.

Though youthful, this wine is extremely approachable and enjoyable now, fresh and bursting with ripe red and black berries. The texture is plush voluptuous, full and the tannins are firm but not overpowering. There is even a touch of leather, spice, and earth which balances out the fruit so beautifully.

Serving recommendations

Serve at 16-18 °C with grilled or roasted red meats, mature cheese, Iberian ham.

About brand

Clos Mogador – A Legendary Priorat Estate from the Heart of Spain

Clos Mogador is one of the most respected and influential wineries in Spain, located in the renowned Priorat DOQ region. Founded by the celebrated winemaker René Barbier, Clos Mogador not only elevated the global reputation of Priorat wines but also became a symbol of the region’s modern revival.

Winemaking Philosophy

Clos Mogador is rooted in natural winemaking, a deep connection to the land, and profound respect for nature. René Barbier was one of the so-called “Priorat revolutionaries” — a group of visionary winemakers who, in the 1980s, revived a nearly forgotten region and proved that world-class wines could be produced there.

What Makes Clos Mogador Wines Unique?

  • Longevity and depth – wines aged in oak barrels and crafted for long-term cellaring

  • Authenticity – each bottle reflects the rugged, mountainous terroir of Priorat

  • Natural approach – organic practices and minimal intervention

  • Limited production – only a few thousand bottles produced annually

Key Wines

  • Clos Mogador – the estate’s flagship wine, a powerful yet elegant red made from Garnacha, Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Carignan

  • Manyetes – a single-vineyard wine from old-vine Carignan

  • Com Tu (Montsant DO) – an expressive project from the neighboring region, dominated by Garnacha
