White dry
A top-class Burgundy Chardonnay from the J. Coudray-Bizot estate – the subtle and elegant Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru Les Combettes 2020 reveals the true expression of this prestigious terroir.
On the nose, it opens with delicate notes of green lemon, white peach, and almonds. On the palate, it shows expressive fruitiness and a rich texture, with gentle hints of oak adding complexity.
The Chardonnay grapes grow on a hillside with stony and clay soils. The vines are around 80 years old, and the grapes are harvested by hand. The berries are pressed whole, followed by alcoholic fermentation and long lees aging (bâtonnage) in oak barrels. The wine also undergoes malolactic fermentation, which provides roundness and a subtle creamy sensation. Aging lasts about 20 months before the wine is bottled.
Serve at 12-14 °C with aeration about 30 minutes. The wine is served with seafood, fish and aged cheeses.

The history of Coudray-Bizot is closely linked to Dr. Bizot, a former surgeon at the legendary Hospices de Beaune hospital. Today, the family traditions he started and nurtured are continued by his grandson, Jean-Jacques Coudray-Bizot. The winery strictly adheres to the principles of minimal intervention: utilizing natural fermentation with wild yeasts, aging in oak barrels, and bottling the wines without filtration. This approach allows the authentic terroir characteristics of each vineyard to be maximally revealed, showcasing the true harmony between nature and human craftsmanship.
The producer manages a small but carefully selected portfolio of the highest quality vineyards. Each plot is maintained and cultivated separately to highlight its uniqueness. The most important vineyards of the estate include:
The estate's red wines are produced exclusively from Pinot Noir grapes. They are deep, featuring polished tannins, well-integrated acidity, and complex notes of red berries, spices, and earth. The white wines made from Chardonnay grapes demonstrate Burgundian elegance, mineral precision, and maintain a highly refreshing structure.
Coudray-Bizot employs traditional aging methods – the wines are kept in oak barrels for 18–24 months. To avoid overpowering the natural expression of the grapes, the amount of new oak is kept moderate. Although these wines can provide pleasure even at a young age, the estate's best examples, especially the Grand Cru and Premier Cru, mature perfectly for 10–20 years and longer, acquiring incredible refinement.
