Description

Matrobela Kisi–Mtsvane 2023 is a harmonious dialogue between two iconic Georgian grape varieties, revealing the aromatic potential of the Kakheti region and a modern interpretation of traditional grapes. This wine is crafted to achieve balance between freshness, aromatic intensity, and clean structure.

On the nose, the floral character of ‘Mtsvane’ stands out with notes of white blossoms, meadow flowers, and subtle herbal nuances. These are complemented by the tropical fruit accents of ‘Kisi’ — ripe pineapple, mango, and delicate citrus hints. The aroma is clean, lively, and gradually unfolds in the glass.

On the palate, the wine is harmonious and well balanced. ‘Mtsvane’ brings freshness and elegance, while ‘Kisi’ adds structure and gentle fruitiness. The texture is light yet expressive, supported by vibrant acidity and a long, clean finish marked by citrus and ripe fruit notes.

The ‘Mtsvane’ grapes are sourced from the village of Magnauri in the Akhmeta region, known for producing aromatic and well-balanced fruit. ‘Kisi’ adds depth and structure to the blend, together creating a modern yet authentic expression of Georgian white wine.

Serving recommendations

Serve at 10-12 °C with fresh salads with seafood, chicken kebabs, or desserts with dried fruit.

About brand

Matrobela Wines – A Contemporary Expression of Georgian Winemaking and Deep Respect for Terroir

Matrobela Wines was founded in 2015 by Irakli Topuria, the founder of the International Baccalaureate and Language Schools. His personal vision was to promote Georgian wine culture on the international stage — not as an exotic relic, but as a mature, contemporary and world-class winemaking tradition.

The creative backbone of the winery is winemaker Temuri Dakishvili, son of renowned Georgian winemaker Giorgi Dakishvili. Having completed his winemaking studies in Germany, Temuri combines classical European enology with deep-rooted Georgian winemaking traditions, based on qvevri culture and the understanding of indigenous grape varieties.

Winemaking Philosophy

The philosophy of Matrobela Wines is built on a balance between tradition and modernity. Wines are produced from carefully selected local grapes, using both classical and traditional Georgian methods. Particular attention is paid to the natural character of the raw material, clean fermentation, and minimal intervention in the winemaking process.

The qvevri method is used where it best expresses varietal character, while modern enology ensures precision, stability, and clarity of structure. This approach allows wines to reflect both authenticity and a contemporary interpretation.

Terroir and Style

The vineyards are located in Georgia’s key wine-growing regions, characterized by a favorable climate, long growing seasons, and mineral-rich soils. These conditions allow the production of wines that are ripe yet balanced, with freshness, structure, and longevity.
