A single cask single malt whisky bottled by Douglas Laing, one of Scotland’s most renowned independent family-owned bottlers. This release captures the essence of the Macduff Distillery – bright, fruity, and delicately spiced, while preserving the genuine spirit of Scotland’s northern coastal character.
The Macduff Distillery is located in Banffshire, in the northeast of Scotland, near the North Sea. Thanks to the region’s climate and soft spring water, its whiskies are known for their clean, fresh malt profile with a subtle maritime influence. This 12-year-old edition was matured in ex-bourbon casks, retaining pure fruit character and natural texture. Like all whiskies in the Old Particular series, it is non-chill filtered and free from added colouring.
The aroma reveals honey, vanilla, pear, apple, and gentle oak notes. Gradually, hints of citrus peel, candied almonds, and a touch of floral lightness unfold. The bouquet is clean, fresh, and harmonious.
On the palate, the whisky is smooth and well-balanced, offering tones of malt sweetness, vanilla cream, pear tart, and light spice. The mid-palate shows almonds, soft oak texture, and a hint of honeyed caramel. The finish is medium-length, elegant, and warm, with lingering touches of vanilla, citrus, and malt.
A whisky of light, elegant, and precise style, beautifully expressing the subtle character of Macduff Distillery. Old Particular Macduff 12 YO will appeal to those who appreciate a clean, non-smoky, fruit-forward profile, maintaining a natural balance between sweetness and freshness.
